Before you come
What level do I need?
None. Every plan is built around your level, from complete beginners to advanced dancers. Whatever your level, bring an open mind.
Are classes in English?
Yes. Every class, training and coaching session is in English.
Can I come alone, or as a couple?
Both. Many guests arrive alone and settle in quickly through coaching, training partners, shared meals and socials. Couples sharing a suite receive $50 off per night.
Is the neighborhood safe?
Refúgio is between Vila Madalena and Lapa, a quiet residential part of São Paulo. The building is gated, with cameras and night patrols. We go to socials together by Uber, and someone from the house will accompany solo guests who would like company.
How do I get there?
Take an Uber from the airport straight to Refúgio. We send the address and arrival details when you book.
How long should I stay?
Immersions can be any length. Weekly immersions are prorated by the day, and the Residency starts at one month. If you are unsure, tell us your goals and we will suggest a length.
Training
How intense is it?
It can be. That is why your coach follows how you feel as well as your technique, and adjusts your load. You can swap any 1-hour private lesson for 2 hours of lighter training.
What is the difference between a private lesson and training?
A private lesson is where you learn: a professor introduces or refines a concept and you work on it together. Training is where it becomes yours: you repeat it with a highly skilled dancer who gives you live feedback on what they feel.
Who will teach me?
Professors are chosen for your plan, based on the concept you most need and what each of them does best. Over a stay you may work with several, always in the same direction. We carefully match the available professors to what you need to learn. If you are not happy with a session, we replace it at no cost. Rest assured, we select the best professor available in town for the concept you need. All privates are satisfaction guaranteed.
What if a professor cancels?
Every session is guaranteed. If one falls through, we replace it. If you are not happy with a session, we replace it at no cost.
Will I have training partners?
Yes. Training partners are hand-picked and scheduled for you. In Signature, personal dance partners also dance with you through the first hour of socials.
How do the socials work?
Every social is included in your immersion, and we go together. Congresses and workshops are not included.
The house
Which meals are included?
Breakfast, lunch and coffee, every day. Dinner is not included.
Can I work during my stay?
Yes. The house has a coworking space with fast Wi-Fi, and the Residency leaves weekends free.
Can I stay without training?
Yes, subject to availability: a suite is $100 a night and a private room with shared bathroom is $50, both with breakfast, lunch and coffee. Availability is limited from December to March.
Booking and payment
How do booking and payment work?
Send us your dates and we confirm availability. A 50% deposit by card or bank transfer, through Stripe or Wise, holds your place. All prices are in USD.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel 30 or more days before arrival for a full refund, less 4% transaction fees. If you cancel later, you receive full credit toward another immersion within 12 months.
Can I train without staying at the house?
Yes. Training-only immersions start at $1,100 a week and include everything except accommodation, meals and socials.
